They FINALLY DID IT! Nike is getting ready to release a shoe with automatic lacing to the general market.
“When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” “Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect.”Tiffany BeersSenior Innovator and technical lead, NIKE, Inc.,
The shoe is an amazing display of advanced electrical and mechanical engineering, kinesiology, fashion style and pop culture prophecy! The first time we even TOYED with this concept was in 1989 with the release of the movie Back to the Future Part 2.
But you NEED to know, this is the beginning of something we’ve never seen before in apparel. You clothing will ‘come to life’. The Hyperadapt 1.0 is the gateway to a type of footwear that not only works on its own, but continues to work as you wear it! From what I understand the idea is to develop a show that continues to adjust while you wear it, getting tighter and looser as your foot demands response from the shoe. This potentially addresses lace wear and tear as well as inevitable stretching of the show material.
Regardless of all of the technical pluses…it just looks FREAKIN’ COOL to have SELF LACING KICKS!!!
My questions are
1) How are these shoes powered and recharged?
2) How weather proof is the circuitry?
3) How EXPENSIVE?
