Galapagos : Shark Paradise

By Nature

In December of 2013 I boarded the Galapagos Aggressor II live-aboard yacht and went on an adventure. I’ve been diving for many years but in this 1 week I encountered more sharks than I’ve seen in my entire life underwater. The common misconception is that these animals are blood thirsty man killers. This could be no further from the truth. We were in the water with a variety of shark species. White Tipped Reef Sharks, Bullheads, Galapagos, and giant schools of hundreds of Hammerhead Sharks allowed us in their habitat and at times, seemed afraid of us divers. What some may think would be peril was actually paradise. Jump into what felt like at times “Shark Soup” with me and see that these powerful and effective hunters are a beautiful part of God’s creation and worthy of our admiration, respect and protection…at all costs.
